Behavioral Health Innovators Graciously Accepts the Duffy Health Center 2018 Community Partner Award for Their Collaboration on RecoveryBUILD Alternative Peer Group for Teens

Thank you to Duffy Health Center for partnering with BHI to make RecoveryBUILD Alternative Peer Group (APG) a reality for teens struggling with substance use challenges. This “APG” provides counseling for teens and their families, with fun social activities, and Peer Recovery Mentors.  At the APG  personalized plans are co-created with the members to help them attain a quality of life that best serves their goals and aspirations without the use of substances and a provides a “warm hand off” to college or the workforce.  Our counselor has conducted over 50 counseling sessions with members and their parents and many, many, community based organizations, as well as, the hospital ERs that are looking for the APG to fill the gap in support for teens.
We are honored to accept this award on behalf of the teens whom we support, their friends who are so concerned about them, and their families looking for tools that work to address the impact of teen substance use.
Special thanks to Amanda McGerigle, our APG counselor, and Domo DeCola, our Recovery Navigator, for their dedication to this program.  Thanks are also due to Stephanie Briody of Behavioral Health Innovators, whose vision and determination matched up completely with the same vision and determination of the leaders at Duffy Health Center – namely, Heidi Nelson, Jane DeGroot and Pat Cawley.  This effort has been a true collaboration from day 1.
